Bowes Primary and Surrounding Streets Quieter Neighbourhood – Update
Classification: OFFICIAL
Dear Resident,
Thank you for taking part in the consultation on the Bowes Primary and Surrounding Streets Quieter Neighbourhood. Following careful consideration of all of the comments and representations received during the trial period, as well as extensive monitoring of the scheme impacts, it has been decided to make the scheme permanent. The decision report sets out the reasons for the Council’s decision in more detail and addresses the various objections received. The notice confirming the making of the permanent traffic orders and the orders themselves can be found here.
It is acknowledged that further improvements can be made to the scheme and the Council is looking at:
- A further review of whether the scheme would work better for residents if access was switched from the North Circular (A406) to Bounds Green Road
- Introducing exemptions for Blue Badge holders who live within the area
- Creating a School Street outside Bowes Primary School
- Replacing the bollard on Maidstone Road with a camera which emergency services can easily pass through
- Ways to improve walking and cycling connections
For more information please see the project page here.
Kind regards,
Healthy Streets team
